How to Flame a Drink
Most alcoholic beverages are flammable, therefore you can make almost any
drink flame if you first heat the liquors. Although serving drinks on fire can
be really cool and impressive to your guests, please practice this technique
several times prior to your parties or you could run the risk of turning your
divine parties into flaming hell.
Before igniting any beverage, be sure the
glass has been
pre-heated or the sudden change in temperature may shatter it.
After preparing your drink, warm some additional liqueur either in a sauce
pan or on a table spoon. The vaporized alcohol will float to the top allowing
you to ignite it and to carefully pour it on top of your prepared drink. If done
properly, the alcohol in the
glass will be warm enough to ignite as well.
Here are some important tips you should keep in mind when mastering this
technique:
- If this is your first time trying this technique, as a precaution, be
sure to have a fire extinguisher handy.
- Keep any other flammable objects away from the fire. Flames can often
shoot high and possibly ignite objects in their way.
- Don't try this technique after you have been drinking.
- Never leave warm alcohol unattended.
- Always place the lids back on the bottles prior to igniting your drinks.
- Never add alcohol to a drink that is already on fire.
